Our Story
Life is Sweet!
An eb and flow progression toward the beginning of us!
The coming and going, the growing, deep listening and learning. The journey of mutual respect and appreciation began, dare I say it, during the days of covid.
Before they met Jay would travel to Jessica’s hometown, Grand Rapids. Not knowing this is where he would stay or choose to land, he continued his journey to Michigan for work. Jessica was working as a bartender in a busy spot in town and managing events at the data center space. Days were busy as Jessica was also home taking care of Miss Emma. As time moved forward and we landed face to face, we began to understand one another. Finding common interests, along with Jay teaching Jess a bit about humor One lovely day, Jay had the courage to challenge Jessica in a game of bowling. Masked up at a 20% occupancy, they began the love of games and activities with one another, a way to connect deeper and have fun while doing it. As we reminisce on the beginning of us, it’s important to remember how a simple prayer and the courage for both of us to say yes opened our door to together.
Through the biggest challenges in life, new beauty unfolds if you hold fast to faith.
As time moves forward, we are so thankful at how our journey began, many blessings and divine timing has brought us both together. Miss Emma was introduced to Jay and she called him papa. Still papa today, with a special added title, Dad. We’re soaking up every bit of joy life brings with our girl Emma by our side. Whether we’re surrounded by friends and family or just the three of us, it’s always time well spent. Thankful, grateful, blessed. Love, Jessica
Our Proposal Story
A day at the cabin. Jay had a grand idea to gather materials and build a beautiful picnic table that morning! Jessica spent this particular Friday washing windows, organizing the cabin and visiting the local goat farm with Grams and Emma. We returned to clean up for the evening and Jay laid down to gather himself. Jay gave Emma a preview of the newly built table on “the hill”. Back at the cabin Jay and Emma offered me a golf cart ride up to our favorite “lookout” on the hill. I honestly didn’t think much about how the evening might unfold, so I threw on my best fourth of July outfit. My crochet knit American flag dress, silly me. Emma started up the playlist, listening to “Carol of the Bells” as we rode around the bend and up the hill. There lay the picnic table he built that day, while I was admiring it, Jay got down on one knee and Emma with Jay’s phone filmed the special moment. Best Day ever. I was completely surprised and so very excited. Simple, natural and a place we can always return too makes it even more special.
Cheers to becoming a Liebe!!!!!!!
